Gift him unforgettable memories with a Zoo or Aquarium experience

When it comes to getting gifts for kids who are drowning in toys and constant stimuli, you want to go for gifts that encourage one of three things:

  • New memories or experiences
  • Learning
  • Physical activity

With a Zoo or Aquarium membership, you're encouraging all three! Get him a membership to your local wildlife park so that they can get out and see all the beautiful animals that is on offer!

Alternatively you can also just take him to the Zoo or Aquarium yourself (which doubles up as a gift for the parents who gets a babysitter for a day).

Teach him all about our beautiful earth with a kid-friendly gardening kit

I absolutely adore this kid-friendly gardening kit that comes complete with it's own irrigation system and everything.

Not only is this super educational for children to understand how our earth operates, but it also has potential to spark a whole new hobby!

... and not to mention, it's super fun.

Let him make experiments with a science kit

If there's one thing I remember from my own childhood, it's how fun the idea of doing "science experiments" were.

Children love to test how things work, because they haven't been dulled by seeing how the world works yet.

Before I have an existential crisis while writing this, I'll suggest you get them the Tepsmigo Science kit that allows them to safely explore all sorts of reactions!

Maybe you have a future scientist on your hands?

Gift him encouragement of curiosity with a kid-friendly microscope

Grabbing some more ideas off of my own childhood, I have a clear memory of the best gift I ever got:

A microscope.

Now obviously I turned into a merchant and not a scientist, but I loved running out in the garden to grab all sorts of stuff to put under my microscope.

Encourage curiosity that isn't just iPad-fueled by getting them this kid-friendly beginners microscope!

Channel his inner photographer with this kid-friendly camera

Let the kid play around with some introductory photography with the Little Tikes Tobi camera!

It's a great way to have fun capturing memories around the house from the perspective of a child, a fun way to integrate their friends on playdates, and might also spark a hobby for photography in the future!

Gift him a true classic: a bike

If he doesn't already have a bike, I cannot recommend getting him one enough!

Especially if he lives in a neighborhood that is kid and bike-friendly, getting a two-wheeler with some training wheels will not just spark the beginning of a new skill, but is a great way for kids to stay social and active.

Or maybe I'm just reminiscing back to the early 90's when we all used to bike around the neighborhood to hang and not just sit on our iPads... oh the days.

This one is currently the best one on the market, and is super great because it's also customizable!

Encourage some backyard fun and physical activity with a trampoline

The savior of outdoor play will always be the trampoline.

To this day I still see the most dopamine-cursed kids enjoy time out on the trampoline with their friends during summer days.

So get them one right here!

You can choose any size (from 8ft to 14) depending on their age, space and preference.

And he's going to love you forever because it comes in a massive box, and kids love big boxes.

Spark a new hobby by getting him equipment for a new activity (and maybe some classes?)

Part of growing up is finding out what you like, so get creative with potential hobbies!

There are so many fun hobbies out there; gymnastics, twirling, dancing, soccer, robotics, drawing, little league... you name it.

Find something you think he'll enjoy, or maybe have mentioned in the past, and get him some fun equipment for that hobby to encourage the pursuit!

Create a brand new story book with him as the main character

Did you know that over at Wonderbly you can create your very own illustrated book?

Make a little story about him on some magical adventure, hanging out with his favorite fictional characters or friends, or you!

Get some illustrations in there that resemble him and gift him his very own illustrated fairytale, all about him!

Kids absolutely love this present (because they all have main-character syndrome) so I cannot recommend it enough.

Encourage prompt bedtime with themed sheets and bedding

Get him some bedding with themes he enjoys!

I gifted my little nephew this space-themed quality bedding set and he absolutely loves it.

As in my sister is telling me he wont go to sleep if that's not the bedding that's on it.

You can find all sorts of themes, so just go get creative with it!

This also tends to lessen the struggle of bedtime for the parents, at least for a little bit.

Help decorate their room with themes they'll love with fun wall-decals

Get some fun wall-decals for him to really brighten up his room in whichever way you think he'll like the most!

Sticking to the space theme of my nephew, items like these glow-in-the-dark stars and planets!

Amazon has all sorts of amazing options and you know your little guy best (or ask whoever the parents are) so go for that!
